File Format

  1. Preferred Formats: PNG files provide the best results as PNGs support transparent backgrounds, so you wont have unwanted color and space around your design.
  2. Alternative Formats: If PNG files are not available, high-resolution raster files in formats like JPEG, GIF or TIFF are also acceptable. Ensure that raster files have a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for optimal embroidery quality. We'll review and edit your file before sending it to you for approval.
  3. File Size: 4MB is the max size you can upload for each logo. The maximum upload size for each logo is 4MB. If your file exceeds this limit and you're unable to upload it, please consider reducing the DPI (dots per inch) or overall measurements of the artwork but do not reduce it less than 4" wide or in height.
  4. Don't Worry: I will personally review each of your files to ensure they meet our quality standards. If adjustments are needed, I'll reach out to inform you. Once I've confirmed your desired results, I'll make the necessary edits. You'll then have the chance to approve the edited version before production begins.

    Size and Placement

    1. Artwork Measurements: In general, larger artwork measurements result in better quality, especially when they're reduced. Our customizer app automatically reduces your artwork size to 4" wide in all logo areas except the back of the kimono.
    2. Embroidery on back of kimono: For the back of the kimono, where embroidery is 10" wide, we recommend keeping the artwork at least 10" wide for optimal results. Keep in mind that smaller details may not translate well in embroidery, so simplify intricate designs if necessary.
    3. Don't Worry: I will individually review and edit each of your artworks to ensure they meet our standards for the best results. You'll have the opportunity to approve the edited version before production begins.

    Color and Stitching

    1. Thread Colors: We'll utilize standard colors that closely match yours. However, if you have a specific shade in mind, please provide the corresponding Pantone number. Our embroidery machines can recreate a wide range of colors, but it's essential to choose colors that complement your design and garment.
    2. Stitch Types: Smaller areas like letters will be directly embroidered with thread. For larger spaces, we'll use fabric appliqué, which involves stitching fabric down to fill the area and then securing it along the edges with embroidery. Appliques will be mostly utilized for the bigger back logo. Smaller areas like letters will be directly embroidered with thread.

    Design and Detail

    1. Simplification: Simplify complex designs by reducing the number of colors and fine details. Embroidery works best with bold, distinct elements that can be easily replicated with thread.
    2. Text Considerations: If your design includes text, choose clear and legible fonts. Avoid using fonts that are too thin or intricate, as they may not embroider well.
    3. Thickness and Density: Maintain a balance between the thickness and density of your embroidery. Dense stitching can cause the fabric to pucker, while overly thin stitching may not be visible enough.
    4. Small Avoid using very small letters because the embroidered text might not be legible. Keep the text at least 0.25'' in height and at least 0.05'' thick.
    5. The minimum recommended line thickness for the regular satin stitch is 0.05''. For thinner lines we’ll use run stitch (a single line of stitches). You can measure the text in Illustrator either by using the measuring tool, or by converting the font point size to inches or centimeters. You can do this by going to: File > Preferences > Units > General > Inches or CM.   0.25'' is equivalent to approximately 36pt, and the letters will also have the necessary thickness. But this depends on the font. We recommend using simple fonts like Arial, Helvetica, Myriad pro.
    6. Photographic images: It’s impossible to embroider photographic images. Also neon and metallic colors dont render well either.
